Rather than following trends, we looked at real feet and followed their shape. We set out to create a timeless sneaker that feels good, looks good, and is good enough to replace your favourite pair without asking the foot to compromise.

Drawing on years of experience through Akana, Maximinima was created to build the barefoot sneaker we always wanted to wear ourselves.

It’s strange when you think about it. We design gloves around hands, helmets around skulls, glasses around faces, because shape matters. Yet mainstream shoes follow fashion, not anatomy. They squeeze toes into a narrow point, even though toes are meant to spread, flex, and anchor us with every step.

Somewhere along the way, we accepted this as normal.

That’s why anatomy matters. When a sneaker follows the natural shape of the foot, comfort improves, movement feels easier, and the shoe finally works with the body, not against it.

That’s why we follow nature, creating barefoot sneakers that let the foot move, feel, and function exactly as it was designed to.

It starts with space. A natural toe box allows your toes to spread and settle, finding stability the way they do when you walk barefoot. Nothing is squeezed or reshaped.

The foot stays level, too. With a zero-drop platform, meaning no height difference between heel and forefoot, your body remains balanced and grounded, just as it would be without shoes.

As you move, the sneaker moves with you. Flexible materials bend and adapt to each step, flowing with the natural actions of the foot rather than resisting them. The result is a feeling of ease and stability that feels intuitive from the first step.

All of this is achieved without compromising on style, combining natural movement principles with a timeless, classic aesthetic.
